I am the face behind the Threads of Heritage Project. This exhibition is a work in progress and will continually grow and develop over the next two years as I continue pursuing my Master of Professional Studies in Arts and Cultural Leadership at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

About the project

Threads of Heritage is a project about honoring culture, heritage, and traditions in modern times.

The first exhibition revolves around my personal history and what it means to be Hmong. I am an individual that belongs to a generation that has had to navigate the complex intersection of cultural heritage and Westernization, I strive to find a balance between honoring my roots and living in the Americanized world.

This exhibit is a show-and-tell of Hmong clothes meets story circles. You will experience the oral histories and memories through time that are tied to the clothes we wear in hopes to learn and create conversation about finding balance in all of our identities.

I invite you to share and subscribe to emails, follow the project on social media, and contribute or share this page with people you think would like to contribute whether it's time, clothing, cultural pieces, or monetary donations. Thank you.

My story is unique to me, but it is a shared experience amongst many Hmong Americans.

I'm on the cusp last generations to immigrate to the United States and with the privilege of having elders and parents who have lived through the pre-Vietnam war era. Because of this, I strive to find a balance between honoring my roots and living in the Americanized world.

The cultural exhibit will not only provide an enriching experience for visitors, but it will also benefit the culture of the institutions involved by promoting diversity and cultural understanding. By showcasing the traditions and customs of different cultures, the exhibit will foster an inclusive environment and promote cross-cultural dialogue. Additionally, the event will have a positive impact on the local community by providing an opportunity for cultural enrichment and education. Through this exhibit, the institutions involved will be able to give back to the community and promote cultural awareness and understanding.
